Ways to Support the LEF

Gifts and pledges of any amount to support unrestricted programs and the operation of the fund are most appreciated. The fund is building a general endowment that will provide funding for projects in our schools long into the future. (All endowment funds are managed by the Maine Community Foundation.) Gifts can be made through a variety of methods, including stock and real estate transfers and planned giving vehicles such as a will or listing the Fund as the beneficiary of an insurance policy. Gifts may also support specific requests of the donor.

Ways to Give:

• Outright Gift

  Cash or long-term appreciated securities.

• Matching Gift

  Your employer may match a personal gift to the Lewiston Education Fund. Please check with your company's personnel office to obtain an appropriate form and enclose it with your gift.

• Memorial Gift

  Cash or assets in memory of a deceased friend, relative, or educator.

• Deferred Gift

  Bequests, gift annuities, life insurance, charitable remainder trusts, etc.

• Incremental Gift

  Gifts made in planned stages over a specific period of time.

Donations can be made with a credit card, a check, or through payroll deduction (for Lewiston School Department employees). Checks should be made payable to the Lewiston Education Fund. The fund qualifies as a tax-exempt organization; therefore, if you itemize your deductions, your contribution is tax deductible.

You can also support the Lewiston Education Fund by donating your time and skills by becoming a member of the Board of Directors or an LEF Community Friend.

• Board of Directors

  As a Board member, you will be asked to attend a meeting once a month and to commit to a specific cause within the organization for which you have passion (i.e., helping to create a signature project, becoming involved in the grant procedure, overseeing nominations, or aiding the marketing campaign). • LEF Community Friend

  As an LEF Community Friend, you will become part of our network of volunteers and professionals that we may call upon from time to time to utilize your skills and expertise. We may ask you to join an LEF subcommittee or to help us on a particular project. Your participation will never be assumed and will always be at your discretion.
